چکیده
odern cataract surgery aims not only to remove lens opacities but also to achieve correction of any refractive error. In addition to restoration of uncorrected visual acuity, correction of preexisting astigmatism is also important, and treatment options for this purpose include corneal limbal relaxing incisions, excimer laser photoablation and toric intraocular lens (IOL) implantation. Shimizu et al. were the first to report the benefit of toric IOL implantation for correction of pre-existing astigmatism, and they emphasized that postoperative IOL rotational stability is crucial in astigmatic correction. Subsequent reports were also concerned with postoperative IOL rotational stability. Smaller corneal incisions have minimized surgeryinduced astigmatism, and technical advances have been beneficial in reducing postoperative IOL rotation in the capsular bag. In recent years, single-piece toric IOLs with acrylic optics materials have become available. However, fixation of the single-piece acrylic IOL in the capsular Original Contribution Kitasato Med J 2013; 43: 10-16

A case report of intraocular lens luxation with the capsular bag after vitrectomy.
We experienced a case of intraocular lens (IOL) luxation with the capsular bag after vitrectomy. The case was a 66-year-old female in whom an IOL was implanted one year after surgery for giant tear retinal detachment using silicone oil. Four years after the implantation surgery, the patient suffered subluxation of the IOL with the capsular bag. Examinations of the luxated IOL with the capsular ...
متن کاملComparison of decentration and tilt between one piece and three piece polymethyl methacrylate intraocular lenses.
BACKGROUND The extent of the decentration and tilt was prospectively compared between one piece polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) and three piece PMMA intraocular lenses (IOLs) which were implanted in the capsular bag after performing continuous curvilinear capsulorhexis. METHODS 91 patients underwent a one piece PMMA IOL implantation in one eye as well as the implantation of the three piece PMM...

A 57-year-old male patient visited our clinic for decreased visual acuity in the right eye for 10 days. He denied any trauma history, but recalled that the symptom developed after straining. He had undergone uncomplicated phacoemulsification and posterior chamber intraocular lens (IOL) implantation in the bag of the right eye 11 years ago. The IOL was a three-piece silicone polyimide-haptics de...
متن کاملEffect of number and position of intraocular lens haptics on anterior capsule contraction: a randomized, prospective trial
BACKGROUND The present study aimed to evaluate the degree of anterior capsule contraction (capsulorhexis contraction) with three different single-piece, hydrophilic acrylic intraocular lenses (IOLs). METHODS Patients were prospectively randomized to be implanted with one of three types of IOLs during cataract surgery: the Ophtec Precizon (IOL A), the Lucid Korea Microflex (IOL B), and the Car...
متن کاملSCIENTIFIC REPORT A dual optic accommodating foldable intraocular lens
Aim: To design an accommodating intraocular lens with extended accommodative range that can be adapted to current standard phacoemulsification and endocapsular implantation technique. Method: Ray tracing analysis and lens design; cadaver eye implantation. Results: Ray tracing analysis indicated that axial movement of an exaggerated converging anterior optic linked by spring loaded haptics to a ...
